š« Scenario Setup
FL350, night IMC. Left IDG trips, then Right IDG trips within 90 seconds. APU not running.
š„ Failure Injection
L IDG FAULT then R IDG FAULT. Both generator buses lost. Essential bus on battery only.
š§ MEMORY ITEMS ā 30 Second Standard
ā These items MUST be performed from memory BEFORE opening the QRH. No reference permitted.
- APU ā START immediately
- If APU fails ā MAYDAY
- EMERGENCY DESCENT ā nearest airport
- BATTERY TIME IS LIMITED
š Required Actions (Sequence)
- Attempt APU start immediately
- If APU starts: restore electrical power via APU generator
- If APU fails: battery power only ā extremely limited time
- Declare MAYDAY immediately
- Emergency descent ā land without delay
- Identify what systems remain on essential bus
- Prepare for instrument approach with degraded avionics
- Notify ATC ā request vectors to nearest airport with ILS
ā Evaluation Points
- APU start attempted immediately
- MAYDAY declared without delay
- Emergency descent initiated
- Landing not deferred ā time critical on battery
ā Common Errors (UNSAT)
- Not attempting APU start
- Continuing cruise on battery power
- Delayed MAYDAY declaration
š What the Instructor / Examiner Watches For
TIMING STANDARDS
- Correct QRH: within 60 seconds of recognition
- ATC notification: when safety allows
AUTOMATIC UNSATISFACTORY
- Operating wrong system off
- No divert decision when required
