š§ MEMORY ITEMS ā 30 Second Standard
ā These items MUST be performed from memory BEFORE opening the QRH. No reference permitted.
- THRUST LEVER (affected engine) ā IDLE
- FIRE HANDLE (affected engine) ā PULL
- WAIT 10 SECONDS
- FIRE AGENT ā DISCHARGE (armed side)
- If fire continues ā FIRE AGENT ā DISCHARGE (disarmed side)
- LAND at nearest suitable airport
š Required Actions (Sequence)
- IMMEDIATE MEMORY ITEM 1: Engine 1 THRUST LEVER ā IDLE
- IMMEDIATE MEMORY ITEM 2: Engine 1 FIRE HANDLE ā PULL
- WAIT 10 SECONDS for halon to work
- IMMEDIATE MEMORY ITEM 3: FIRE AGENT ā DISCHARGE (armed side)
- If fire persists after 30 seconds: FIRE AGENT ā DISCHARGE (disarmed side)
- If fire continues: DECLARE EMERGENCY; land nearest suitable immediately
- QRH: Single Engine Operations checklist
- Single engine cruise altitude determined
- ATC: MAYDAY ā nature, position, intentions, souls, fuel
- KPHX or nearest divert selected and briefed
- Single engine approach and landing completed
ā Evaluation Points
- Thrust lever IDLE before pulling fire handle
- 10-second wait between fire handle pull and bottle discharge
- Correct engine identified ā EICAS cross-check
- Second bottle logic: only if fire continues
- ATC notification within 60 seconds
ā Common Errors (UNSAT)
- Discharging bottle immediately without 10-second wait
- Pulling wrong engine fire handle (fatal error)
- Not discharging second bottle if fire continues
- Failing to declare emergency and divert
š What the Instructor / Examiner Watches For
TIMING STANDARDS
- O2 masks: within 10 seconds
- Memory items: within 30 seconds
- ATC notification: within 60 seconds
AUTOMATIC UNSATISFACTORY
- Wrong engine shut down
- Fire handle not pulled
- RTO above V1 (no incapacitation)
- Speed below V2 >5 sec
